Excellence Reporter: Dr. Weissman, what is the meaning of life?
Dr. Darren Weissman: The moment of complete darkness is the beginning of light. Turn on the news and you’ll hear about war, genocide, political upheaval, scandals, poverty, starvation, racism, pollution, suicide, bankruptcy, death, hatred, violence, rapists, cancer, children shooting each other, catastrophic floods, fires, earthquakes, and other natural disasters, gang violence, biological warfare, pedophiles, terrorism, rampant childhood obesity, spiraling divorce rates, resistant bacteria, infertility, decline in literacy, road rage, addiction, train bombings, political and celebrity court trials, sexism, technological warfare, nuclear weapons, overmedicating, malpractice . . . fear . . . fear . . . fear . . .
Can you imagine if life didn’t have meaning and all these crises were occurring just “because”? This is our wake-up call! Life is painful, yet there’s value in pain. Life is scary, yet there’s meaning in fear. Life is stressful yet every challenge is an opportunity. We need to ask the question, “Why?” and be willing to hear the answer. We must own our power by embracing the infinite truth of a moment without judgement and with compassion and love. It’s so easy to judge these experiences; however, we risk our future if we miss the chance to learn from our past and present.
Take a deep breath and reflect on the awesomeness of life. Have you ever seen the northern lights, a coral reef, or a baby being born? There’s a rhythm and harmony that’s an intricate part of every life process. Through science, humankind has revealed and unleashed some of the greatest mysteries of the universe. However, as much as it’s taught us, it appears as if we’re light-years away from living as one with the universe. It’s through meaning that we discover the preciousness of life – our own as well as others. In the midst of horrific news and other challenges, we often internalize, deny, or disconnect from life’s meaning. We succumb to illness, cynicism, and hopelessness. Be we have a choice . . . a choice to own our power, embrace life with passion, and reconnect to Infinite Love & Gratitude.
A single moment truly lived is the same as living a thousand lifetimes. The wisdom of the universe teaches us that each moment is genuinely experienced when we awaken to the power of Infinite Love & Gratitude – the key to mastering the game of life.
The meaning of life is simple, just not always so easy. It is my humble opinion we are here to discover and live as One. Learning to create a practice of connecting through our highest self to the field of energy that connects all of creation. Life is the teacher and the meaning of our life is discovered by living it from a curious and open hearted perspective. Being courageous is mandatory if you choose to find meaning. Choosing to love yourself first and fully is essential to moving through the loss’s and traumas of life.
Embracing life with an attitude of gratitude is a sign you know that negative circumstances are not isolated instances in an infinite Universe. There must be a positive somewhere…even if it’s in the invisible, unmanifest, and subconscious realm. It is in taking responsibility for our life – exactly the way it is – we experience and discover and emerge as the next greatest version of ourselves.
Pain, fear, and stress are gifts in very strange wrapping paper. When we are brave enough to see, feel, and hear the fights and failures of life as a feedback or sign post to choose love, we discover meaning. When we are courageous enough to view every problem as a portal into our next best self we discover meaning. We are way more powerful and resilient than we often give ourselves credit. Your heart knows the way of meaning.
