Dr. Dawson Church: The Unique Superpower of Humans – To Make Meaning

Our lives are infused with the highest possible meaning…

Dawson_005Excellence Reporter: Dr. Church, what is the meaning of life?

Dawson Church: Life is its own meaning, and every breath is a gift. Being alive and able to experience our amazing bodies and beautiful planet is a blessing in each moment.

We humans also have unique superpowers. One is the ability to make meaning out of circumstances. When we face adversity or challenge, we can invent a story within which to frame it. These stories allow us to assign meaning to events, and we can choose whether to make them inspiring stories of triumph, or tragic stories of anguish. Choose an uplifting story for each event of each day, and you infuse your whole life path with high purpose.

A second is the ability to dream completely new circumstances into being. Each thought involves a signal carried by a neural pathway in your brain; the pathways that are used the most grow the most. We are literally rewiring our brains with every thought we choose to think. When we fill our minds with positivity, altruism, optimism, kindness and wisdom, we rewire our brains to perceive the world that way. We are then attuned to every other person and circumstance that resonates with those values, and our collective vision creates an entirely new world.

Finally, we are part of the great field of non-local mind, the great consciousness in which our local minds have their being. When we tune ourselves to that one mind, we are automatically in tune with every other person and event that is also in tune with the one mind. Our lives are then infused with the highest possible meaning, singing in synchrony with the stars, and we bring the highest potentials inherent in the one mind into material manifestation right here and now.
