Sound Healing Meditation Tips for Beginners

Want to try sound healing? Well, then you’ve come to the right place.

Sound healing is an ancient practice used to promote wellbeing, relaxation, and spirituality. It’s most commonly done using Tibetan singing bowls, but you can use various sound healing instruments. When performing this kind of meditation, you essentially bathe yourself in sound to return your system to a state of harmony.

Ready to get started? Keep reading to learn the top sound healing meditation tips.

Practice First

Before you jump into a sound healing session, practice making sounds with your bowl. That way, you can focus on your meditation instead of fumbling with your instruments. The more relaxed you are during the meditation, the more benefits you’ll feel.

If you’re looking for a short practice session, watch a few Youtube videos. But if you want comprehensive lessons to understand all aspects of singing bowls, read more here

Set An Intention

Before you begin the meditation, set an intention for your practice. This could be anything meaningful to you such as love, optimism, or harmony.

After you’ve found your intention, transfer it to your singing bowls. To do this, place your hands on the bowls while thinking of your intention. Your bowls will then radiate this positive energy as you release their sound.

Get Comfortable

Set aside a certain amount of time in your day to meditate, around twenty minutes. Outside distractions like your phone should be put away so you can stay focused.

You may be lying down or sitting, but either way, make sure you’re in a comfortable position. You can also surround yourself with pillows, candles, or crystals to enhance the experience.

Keep Your Focus

If you’re an overthinker, you may try to harmonize the sounds or overanalyze the tones. Instead of this, try to take in all the sounds as they are and let them fill you with tranquility.

If you feel your mind drifting to thoughts about the past or future, try to bring yourself back to the present. An effective way to do this is by taking deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Sing-Along

If you feel so inclined, you can sing or hum along with your bowl during the meditation. You may feel nervous or silly to let your voice out, but it can actually bring a deeper level of focus to your practice.

When singing along with your bowl, pick the vowel you’re going to use. Then, start singing the vowel and match the note that the bowl is singing.

This practice will make you feel more in tune with the vibrations and connect you to the present moment.

Go Try Sound Healing Meditation

If you’re a singing bowl beginner, keep these tips in mind when you start sound healing meditation. And don’t get frustrated if it takes some time to master it, everyone’s journey is different. But after a while, the experience will hopefully make you feel renewed, happy, and peaceful
