Knowing oneself fills our lives with meaning,
so when we ask ourselves, “where do we come from?” we respond — to ourselves;
and when we ask, “where are we going?” we respond — to ourselves.

When answering the “meaning of life” question we can answer in a thousand different ways, according to a particular teaching or philosophy, or according to the need of each individual, whether he wants to be a painter, poet, musician, philosopher, actor, etc. And beyond the vocation of each person, we can also answer to the meaning of life when we have an interest in a social cause: to protect animals, nature, the poor and hungry, the victims of wars, etc. All these approaches give rise to various answers, all of them valid and even necessary. But, if what we consider is to seek the ultimate or true meaning of life, then we open ourselves to the greatest adventure that the Human Being can perform.

All teaching about philosophy, psychology, religion, meditation techniques can help us find meaning in life, however, all true teaching will lead us to be ourselves and find the true meaning of life for ourselves. Which brings us to a crossroads that makes us consider three things:

1. Is the meaning of life a purely personal matter, that is, does the meaning of life only concern myself, or does the meaning of life include my self and everything around me in life?

2. Is there any doctrine, belief, teaching about the meaning of life that is really valid? And will such doctrine, teaching, philosophy or belief give me the answer I need, or in any case, will I have to find the answer myself?

3. Can I find out the meaning of life for myself without any help out there? How and in what way?

If something is worth it, it is to find the meaning of life; not finding meaning in life would come to mean in the words of Jesus Christ: “Let the dead bury their dead” (Luke 9:60. – Matthew 8:22.)

Faced with the exposed approaches and considerations, one must first put in order his personal reality; our life is like a puzzle with many unfinished pieces. Therefore we must first see what our personal needs are, and ask ourselves, “what we really need? What do we really want and look for in our lives?” The better we place the pieces of the puzzle of life, the better we will find ourselves, the better balance and harmony we will achieve. Balance and harmony will lead us to reconcile with everything around us, friends, family, work, neighbors, nature, etc.

Second, any doctrine, philosophy, meditation technique, etc., will always be a support towards learning, reflection, understanding and finding the keys needed to raise awareness. As we have said they are supports that allow us to move forward and better reposition the diverse pieces of the puzzle to find the meaning of life. When we look for a spiritual path whatever it is, as it is said, that what it matters is not the road but the peak, reaching the top of the mountain; and it turns out that when we reach the top we realize that there is really only one path, that of knowing one-self.

Third, only subjective experience matters. I had a dream in 2006 where I saw myself in a classroom with other students; in front of us there were several teachers and behind them a wall of glass where a mountain could be seen, the mountain had a ramp on the side to climb and in front there was an entire vertical wall; the teachers explained that on the lateral ramp one could climb slowly but comfortably, while on the vertical wall one could climb faster but with greater effort. Suddenly I saw myself climbing the vertical ramp and reached the top, then I saw the same teachers who were in the classroom, and they told me: there is a third way to climb the mountain and they showed me a tunnel that went from the classroom to the top of the mountain.

I understood in the dream that there are different levels, teachings and abilities to face the escalation of knowing oneself, although in the dream I did not notice much the third way of the tunnel because I was excited to have managed to climb to the top. Following my process I realized the meaning of the third way of the tunnel, this way is the inner, intuitive way, the way that begins and ends in the Being itself.

Experience allows us to see that there are many schools, doctrines, teachings etc., and that some are more comfortable, while others are harder and more difficult. We also know that there are different levels in each teaching, but what is fully true is that everything begins in the Self and ends in the Self.

Conclusion: the meaning of life — we will find it in ourselves and by ourselves, fully free to succeed, make mistakes and rectify. Once we find the depth of Self, “Everything is One.” “Everything is in Yourself.”

Rafael Pavia: El Sentido de la Vida

“Conocerse a sí mismo llena nuestra vida de sentido,
así, cuando nos preguntamos ¿de dónde venimos? respondemos de sí mismos,
y cuando preguntamos ¿hacia dónde vamos? respondemos hacia sí mismos”.

Cuando se responde al “sentido de la vida” podemos responder de mil maneras diferentes, por ejemplo, según una enseñanza o filosofía determinada, o, según la necesidad de cada individuo, ya sea que este, quiera ser pintor, poeta, músico, filosofo, actor, etc. Y más allá de la vocación de cada persona, también podemos dar respuesta al sentido de la vida, cuando nos interesamos por una causa social: proteger a los animales, a la naturaleza, a los pobres y hambrientos, a las víctimas de las guerras, etc. Todos estos planteamientos dan pie a diversas respuestas, todas ellas validas e incluso necesarias. Pero, si lo que planteamos es buscar el sentido último o verdadero de la vida, entonces, nos abrimos a la mayor aventura que el Ser Humano puede realizar.

Toda enseñanza sobre filosofía, psicología, religión, técnicas de meditación, nos pueden ayudar a encontrar un sentido a la vida, sin embargo, toda verdadera enseñanza nos llevara a que seamos nosotros mismos y por nosotros mismos los que encontremos el verdadero sentido de la vida. Lo que nos lleva a una encrucijada que nos hace plantearnos tres cosas:

1º ¿el sentido de la vida es una cuestión meramente personal, es decir, el sentido de la vida solo me atañe a mí mismo, o el sentido de la vida incluye a mi persona y a todo lo que me rodea en la vida?

2º ¿existe alguna doctrina, creencia, enseñanza sobre el sentido de la vida que sea realmente valida? Y ¿tal doctrina, enseñanza, filosofía o creencia me dará la respuesta que necesito, o, de todas maneras, tendré que ser yo mismo quien encuentre la respuesta?

3º ¿puedo por mí mismo sin ayuda externa encontrar el sentido de la vida? ¿cómo y de qué manera?

Si algo merece la pena, es encontrar el sentido de la vida; no encontrarle sentido a la vida vendría a significar, en las palabras de Jesucristo: “dejad que los muertos entierren a sus muertos” (Lucas 9:60. – Mateo 8:22.)

Ante los planteamientos y preguntas expuestas, uno primero debe de poner orden a su realidad personal, nuestra vida es como un puzle con muchas piezas sin terminar de colocar, por tanto, primero debemos ver cuáles son nuestras necesidades personales, preguntarnos ¿que es lo que realmente necesitamos, que es lo que verdaderamente queremos y buscamos en nuestra vida? Cuanto mejor coloquemos las piezas del puzle de la vida, mejor nos encontraremos, mayor equilibrio y armonía alcanzaremos. El equilibrio y la armonía nos llevara a reconciliarnos con todo lo que nos rodea, amigos, familia, trabajo, vecinos, naturaleza, etc.

Segundo, cualquier doctrina, filosofía, técnica de meditación, etc. siempre será un apoyo para aprender a reflexionar, a comprender y encontrar las claves necesarias para despertar mayor conciencia. como hemos dicho son apoyos que nos permiten avanzar y recolocar mejor las piezas tan diversas del puzle para encontrar el sentido de la vida. Cuando buscamos una vía espiritual, sea cual sea, ya que se dice, que no importa el camino sino llegar a la cima de la montaña; resultando que cuando se llega a la cima nos damos cuenta que solo hay en realidad un camino, el del conocimiento de sí mismo.

Tercero, solo cuenta la experiencia vivida por uno mismo. Tuve un sueño en el 2006 donde me veía en un aula con otros alumnos, frente a nosotros varios maestros y detrás de ellos una pared de cristal por donde se veía una montaña, la montaña tenía en un lateral una rampa para subir y de frente era toda una pared vertical, los maestros explicaban que por la rampa se subía lenta pero cómodamente, mientras que por la pared vertical se subía más rápido pero con mayor esfuerzo; de repente me vi subiendo por la pared vertical y llegue a la cima, entonces me vi a los mismos maestros que estaban en el aula, y me dijeron: hay una tercera vía para subir a la montaña y me mostraron un túnel que iba desde el aula a la cima de la montaña.

Comprendí en el sueño que existen diferentes niveles, enseñanzas y capacidades para enfrentar la escalada del conocimiento de sí mismos, aunque en el sueño, no repare mucho en la tercera vía del túnel, pues me hallaba emocionado por haber logrado subir a la cima. Siguiendo mi proceso me di cuenta del significado de la tercera vía del túnel, esta vía, es la vía interior, intuitiva, la vía que se inicia y termina en el propio Ser.

La experiencia nos permite ver que existen muchas escuelas, doctrinas, enseñanzas etc. y que unas son más cómodas, mientras que otras son más duras y difíciles, también conocemos que existen diferentes niveles en cada enseñanza, pero lo que es plenamente cierto, es que todo empieza en el Ser y termina en el Ser.

Conclusión: el sentido de la vida, lo encontraremos en nosotros mismos y por nosotros mismos plenamente libres de acertar, equivocarnos y rectificar. Una vez, que encontremos la profundidad del Ser, “Todo es Uno”. “En Uno mismo esta Todo”.
