Excellence Reporter: Sonia, what is the meaning of life?

Sonia Roberts: Legacy is fundamental to what it is to be human. Legacy, not meaning money and property, but rather something you can leave behind to the people who come after to enrich their lives, the community and society as a whole. Living to create a legacy is a reminder to live for what’s truly important in life. Engage life with passion, gratitude, love and service.

Working to create a legacy, gives your life meaning. It grounds your purpose into a greater purpose. Everybody can live for a greater cause. We are all great in our own way. It doesn’t really matter what it is, as long as you’re living for a purpose bigger than yourself. Life is better when you have a purpose that goes beyond your own material needs. It may be religious, political, for civil rights or any social issue or cause. It is a reason to be passionate about life, a reason to get up in the morning.

Find a way to contribute to the world and you will receive immense satisfaction. Aim to truly make the world, or simply your neighborhood a better place and live for a cause that makes your life, and the life of others, better. You do not need to be Gandhi. It does not need to be a big heroic act, just an impactful act.
