Nicolae Tanase: Myra, what is the meaning of life?
Jaya Jaya Myra: I don’t think there is a single, concise answer for the meaning of life, but if I were to try to give you just one answer, I would say experience. Consciousness has a desire to experience itself, and life is what gives consciousness the ability to do this.
Life is this great game between what we can see and what we can’t. Everything we can see is on a material, manifested spectrum of reality, whereas what we can’t is obviously not. But both of these are a part of consciousness. When the unseen and seen interact, consciousness gets an experience of itself. The unseen part of consciousness gets to understand how it is modulated and expressed thorough interaction with tangible things, like physical sensations, money, family, sexuality, education, and so much more. The manifested part of reality gets to experience the unseen; things like thought, feelings, desire, love and so much more.
Since every person is different in their physical composition and has different thoughts, desires and life experiences, the possibilities for expression and experience are endless. I think that is the beauty in life: that we have unlimited possibility for experience, for whatever we put our thoughts, intention and actions towards. This beauty, this possibility is what makes meaning so powerful. For one person, the meaning of their life could be to experience giving and receiving love. For another person it could be to travel and see the entire world. For another, it could be to bring healing to those who need it most.
The great mystery of life allows for each and every one of us to have our unique perspective on what is meaningful, and how to create a life that fulfills our desires. That’s what brings purpose to the meaning of life! It’s amazing how there is no simple answer, and that while the meaning of life a concept with unbounded possibilities for expression, it’s still not meaningful until it’s combined with purpose, and desire from the individual experiencing it. So, the moral of this is to be less concerned about what the meaning of life is, and to create your own meaning through the things that bring you joy, purpose and meaning.
