Excellence Reporter: Master Allan, what is the meaning of life?
Master Allan Chuck: We are spiritual beings having a physical experience. Our body is a house, a temple for our spirit or soul. Our beloved soul is a light being, our golden essence, our divine spark, our best friend and our true leader. Our physical journey lasts eighty, ninety, even a hundred years for some. Our spiritual or soul journey is eternal.
We live in the physical world of our home, our family and friends, our work, our community, our country and Mother Earth. But, we also live in the spiritual world or soul world at the same time.
To understand the meaning of life, we have to understand how physical life and soul life are connected. Many people keep their consciousness only in the physical world. They may seek meaning in material comfort, physical pleasures, prestige or power. But most of these people awaken at some time in their lives to the reality that a focus on the material world cannot bring true happiness, peace and fulfillment—that “He who dies with the most toys wins” is a total lie.
When we transition from this life to the next phase of our journey, of course we don’t take with us our homes, our cars, our jewelry. We don’t take one dollar. What do we take with us when we die? We take only our virtue. Virtue is the record of services we have offered to others. Good service is making others healthier, happier, wiser and more peaceful. Good service creates good karma. Unpleasant service is hurting, harming or taking advantage of others. Unpleasant service creates negative karma. Good service earns virtue, which is the spiritual world’s remuneration for doing our soul’s job. Through the Third Eye, or spiritual eye, advanced spiritual beings can see that virtue, the soul world’s money, looks like beautiful heavenly flowers. This virtue is food for the soul. It is also recorded in our book in the Akashic Records, the heavenly library that records every action, behavior, word and thought of each and every soul’s existence.
Virtue from good karma and good service will bless our present life and future lives with good health, vitality and intelligence. It will bring peace to our hearts and minds. It will enhance our relationships and finances. Negative virtue from negative karma and unpleasant service will bring all kinds of challenges to our life, in health, emotional balance, clarity of thinking and intention, relationships, finances and more. It could affect us for many lifetimes to come.
Clearly, I deeply believe in karma and reincarnation. You may not, and I totally respect your beliefs. But, I love karma because it is the ultimate fairness of the universe. As the saying goes, “What goes around comes around.” Karma is cause and effect, action and reaction. The universe is like a mirror. What you put forth is what you will receive. What you are receiving, you have put forth before. This is why I fully agree with Dr. and Master Zhi Gang Sha that the purpose of life is to serve.
Physical life is short. Soul life is eternal. Physical life is the blink of an eye compared to our soul life. Take the far-sighted view, not the short-sighted one. If we forget to serve others well, if we focus selfishly or even greedily on our own personal comfort and gain, and especially if we hurt or harm others, then we have literally wasted our life. Even worse, we have not fulfilled our soul’s purpose. We have damaged our own beloved soul, and we will have to suffer consequences.
Even in the short term, how can we find true and lasting happiness, joy, fulfillment and meaning? If you think back to those times in your life—and I hope they are plentiful—when you found this, I’m confident they were times when you served others selflessly, from the purest love in your heart and soul. You never lose when you serve!
In the timeless words of Rabindranath Tagore: “I slept, and dreamt that life was joy. I woke, and found that life was service. I acted, and behold! Service was joy.”
Serve. Serve. Serve. Your life will only get better and better.

Such a beautiful message. You eloquently speak about the material world and how what we physically earn here does not come with us when we leave, only virtue does. So do kind things, serve serve serve, through speech thought and action to accumulate virtue. This is an incredible message. Thank you so much!
