Excellence Reporter: Morris, what is the meaning of life?

Morris Goodman: This is a question that has been asked, meditated upon, thought about, and discussed since Adam and Eve. And there are probably as many answer as there are people on the earth. Why did God put us here? What is our purpose for being here? God told Adam he was put here to subdue and take dominion over the earth. And that is what man has been TRYING to do since – sometimes successfully but most often not even close. Are we here just to occupy space or for a purpose?

God said he has an individual plan for each of us. What is that plan? To me it is like a book. Your life is a book – it has a title, forward, beginning, chapters, an ending. God has already written the story. As long as we stay connected to God the story will end as God wrote it. But how often we get off track – going our own way – seeking our own desires – having our own way. And God patiently pulls us back on his path. And that’s okay as long as we are growing – changing for the better. But so many people stray off course and never find – or even want to find – their way back. And so God finally says I had the story all written – to give you a hope and a future. But here you take the pen and complete it anyway you wish. And this I do know – your completion of the story will be FAR FAR short of the beautiful, marvelous, wonderful story God had already written for your life. Solomon who was the richest and wisest man who ever lived summed it up this way at the end of Ecclesiastes.

“Writing books is endless, and much study wears you out. That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion. Fear God and obey His commands, for this is everyone’s duty”.
